Academic Conduct

Our Editorial Code of Practice

Editing Press Inc. is an independent editorial firm of published academics. Our conduct is guided by the rules and regulations of the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge, though we make no representation on behalf of either university or of any other institution.

Our editorial work must never assist academic misconduct, and plagiarism in particular. Proofreading and editing do not breach the standing rules of academic conduct, and academics routinely receive editorial assistance before they submit or publish important work. The services we provide to our clients are the same as those we would provide to our institutional colleagues.

Both universities now also regulate generative AI. Under the policy Oxford published in July 2025, students may use AI in summative assessment only where their department or faculty permits it, must declare any use, and commit academic misconduct if they use it without authorisation. Cambridge treats unacknowledged AI-generated content in a summative assessment as academic misconduct unless the assessment brief states otherwise. Our editors do not use generative AI at any stage, so our work adds no AI-generated text to a student’s submission.

Need written confirmation for your institution? On request, we provide a certificate stating that the editorial assistance you have received from us does not breach the standing rules of academic conduct and that no generative AI was used. To prepare it, we need a link to your institution’s published rules on written work.
